01. Apple Watch
First off is my Apple Watch. I know not really your typical baby product I love that its stylish, you can change bands and it is an extension of all my other Apple products. Here’s where it comes in handy with kids. You can see who’s calling you while your changing the 10th dirty diaper of the day. IF you really need to answer that call you can answer it on your wrist while you finish changing that diaper! You can set timers for things in the oven! I usually use the microwave kitchen timer but then I never hear the darn thing from the baby’s room while I’m changing diaper number 11 for the day!
You can also use it to track you sleep, or lack there of when your getting up 6 times in the middle of the night to feed your newborn! They are waterproof, so after a night with no sleep and I forget to take it off in the shower its not the end of the world, Plus when I’m in the shower I can use it to turn on some sweet jams, or listen to one of my favorite podcasts! I love that I can use it to control the volume on my phone!
Being able to send a quick reply is also handy for that 12th diaper change, or when you left your phone in the other room. Speaking of leaving you phone in the other room… I am always loosing my phone around the house! I can ping my phone with my Apple Watch even when the phone is on silent! This means if I’m running out the door, I don’t have to dig to the bottom of the diaper bag to see if I tossed it in there or not, I can just ping it and hear it ringing from somewhere in that massive bag, without having to dig it all out!
Thats all without even touching on any of the apps you can find in the app store for it! There are a TON of fitness apps to help you loose those last few pounds of baby weight. There are meditation apps, weather apps, organization apps, calendar apps, the list goes on, and on and on… you get it ‘There’s an app for that’! You can also use Apple Pay with it, so when your toddler is having a meltdown at the checkout you can pay with your watch instead of digging your wallet out of that massive diaper bag again!
I have the small rose gold one, I found a white band on Amazon that I’m loving as well! My advice is buy it with the sports band, you can find a ton of cute third party bands now for a lot better price! Again not really a baby product but its totally worth it!

02. Sunset Alarm Clock
Yet again not the typical baby product! This is also an over the top, you don’t really need it item. But you will use it still once the kids are grown! I originally had bought this sunset sunrise alarm clock for myself but used it so much when Grayson was first born and was nursing all through the night. Basically its an alarm clock that uses light to wake you up in the morning, but you can also use it as a lamp when ever you need! I kept Grayson in his rock n play next to our bed for the first couple of months. (That by the way is a product I would say you should have… you don’t NEED it, but holy moly it makes life with a newborn so much nicer!) Anyway our room is pretty dark and at the time Justin was recovering from heart surgery number 3 right after Grayson was born, so I didn’t want to turn the regular lamp on to wake him up, but I also didn’t want to take Grayson into his room to feed him every hour. So I would just turn this alarm clock on to level 2 or 3 (it goes from 0 – 20). It was enough light to see what I was doing but kept the room dark enough to not wake up Justin.
It helps with your circadian rhythm because it uses a warmer light on the Kelvin scale.
Another added bonus now that Grayson is in his own room now is that this alarm clock makes it just a little bit easier to get up in the mornings now that the sun isn’t coming up until 9 am! I also use the sunset mode at night to kinda power myself down for the night. It slowly fades from 20 to 0 over the course of 30 mins to help you get ready for bed. It also helps with your circadian rhythm because it uses a warmer light on the Kelvin scale. Basically the same thing you can do with your iPhone with the Night Shift Mode
This is the lamp I bought a few years ago, it’s kinda on the spendy side it was one of the only ones on the market at the time, now you can find some much more reasonably priced ones, like the one below.
Again, this is a product I’m still using today!
03. carseat cover
This carseat cover is seriously the BEST, and its actually a baby product! It zips up on both sides, and is stretchy so it fits snug around any infant carseat. It’s amazing for winter, and perfect for keeping people from getting a little too close to baby in the grocery store check out. Grayson was born in early March so there was still snow on the ground, and the flu was still going around up here as well. I loved that this cover kept winter out and but while we were out and about I could unzip one side to keep and eye on him while I was grocery shopping, but it kept people from getting a little too close for comfort to my brand new baby.
kept people from getting a little too close for comfort to my brand new baby
He also slept a lot better with it on since the temperature change wasn’t quite so drastic when we were going in and out of the car, and the lights weren’t blinding him! It got a little warm in the summer time, and I ended up switching it out for a lighter one, but its going back on now that we are in November, and just got 6 inches of snow last night! I like to keep my kids in their infant carrier as long as possible, ya know for safety and such, plus its easier to strap him in now before we get out to a cold car! (someday I’ll have an attached heated garage!)
This cover also has a bug net in the little pouch on top, that is pretty handy in the spring and fall! I also like that if you keep a blanket on the baby in the carseat, it keeps it from getting stuck in between the base and the carseat when you click them in!
04 Solly Baby Wrap
I absolutely LOVE baby wearing! Woohoo another real baby product! After a ton of research I fell in love with the Solly Wrap. First off they come in adorable colors and patterns, but they are also really light weight! I wear Grayson a ton when ever we go shopping, or were at Justin’s doctor appointments. First off Grayson slept like a champ, I didn’t have to worry about hauling a stroller on and off the shuttle bus at the Mayo Clinic, plus its easy to keep in your car, or diaper bag! I have two the Camel one and the Chambray one. The Chambray color isn’t sold on their site any more, but there is an amazing buy and sell Facebook group you can find all sorts of them in!
Hold their value!
As long as you take care of them, and follow washing instructions you can re sell them at a pretty high price! These wraps are light weight and you can use them up to 25 lb I grow long skinny babes so at 8 months Grayson is just barely at 18.5 pounds, so I’ll get some more use out of them! 05. bottle warmer
Ok so you can totally just thaw out breastmilk in the sink, or fridge, but when you haven’t gotten and sleep and you can prove it with your Apple Watch, this bottle warmer is really handy! It basically keeps flowing warm water circulating in the warming chamber to thaw out and warm up breast milk. Which is what the CDC and USDA guidelines say to do. You also don’t have to fill it up with water every time, and it has an auto shutoff so you don’t over heat the darn thing! It’s wide enough to fit frozen bags of milk, and even the wide neck baby bottles. It’s easy to use, and looks ok on the counter too!
This warmer was also recommended to me by a ton of moms on Facebook! I haven’t used it a ton since we breastfeed I haven’t pumped a whole lot, but hubby uses it when ever I leave Grayson with him for a quick trip to the grocery store!
Really all you NEED for a newborn is diapers, wipes, a blanket or two, a car seat, and like 4 zip up jammies, the rest is fluff. Sure things make life a little easier to a major life adjustment but all this stuff isn’t required. Your baby isn’t gonna know if his breastmilk was warmed up with a fancy warmer, or made with a $380 formula bottle maker, or warmed up in a coffee mug in the sink. As long as that baby gets fed thats all that matters! No matter what your not gonna get a ton of sleep, someone will be crying at some point during the day and night, and you will love your new little one no matter what brand blanket they are wrapped in!
You got this momma!
